Della Reese
Al Stewart
The Royal Box was the night club in the Americana Hotel in New York City. It was where the most famous entertainers performed for a week or two. I was there playing for Della Reese in 1963, when one evening during her performance, I glanced up from my music for a moment. She had moved on stage in between a spotlight and me and I saw what looked like a caricature done in white ink on a black background. This photograph is of that moment. It was also the cover for her RCA album, "Moody."
