Inspired by Kelly O’Dell’s “Index Aurora”
blown, sculpted and carved glass
Museum of Modern Art
I lean low to listen
to a snail’s slow, soundless
journey down a cobble path
unaware that some don’t look
where they walk
the glass mollusk without its host
doesn’t leave a trail
out of the Arctic wind
but a song of ionization
